Prompt #30Trimester 3
Prompt 30: The "Is This Labor?" Real-Time Decider
When to use it
You're having contractions / pressure / cramping and you don't know if it's real labor, Braxton Hicks, or something else. You want a clear decision tree, not another list.
The Prompt
I'm [N] weeks pregnant and I'm having [WHAT — e.g., "contractions every 5 min for 2 hours" / "cramping that comes and goes" / "low back pressure" / "period-like cramps" / "sharp shooting pain in cervix"].
What's happening right now:
- Contractions/timing: [E.G., "every 4-5 min, lasting 45-60 sec, for 2 hours" / "irregular, every 10-20 min" / "constant" / "haven't started timing"]
- Intensity: [E.G., "mild, I can talk through them" / "moderate, I have to pause" / "severe, I can't talk"]
- Location: [E.G., "front, wrap-around" / "lower back" / "pelvic pressure" / "all over"]
- Other symptoms: [E.G., "bloody show" / "watery discharge" / "nausea" / "diarrhea" / "nothing else"]
- What I've tried: [E.G., "drank water, lay down, walked around, timed for 1 hour"]
Please give me:
1. The 5-question decision tree (with specific time/symptom thresholds)
2. "Is this real labor" check (the 5-1-1 rule, the bloody show, water breaking signs)
3. What to do in the next hour (stay home, call OB, go to hospital)
4. What to bring mentally to the call to the OB (so they can triage you properly)
5. The "I went in and it was false labor" plan (because it happens and it's not failure)
6. The "should my partner come home from work" framework
7. When it's an actual emergency (different from "go-time")
Important: I want a decision, not a list of possibilities.Example output
*"Decision tree: (1) Are contractions regular? If no → likely BH, hydrate + rest. (2) Can you talk through them? If yes → early labor, stay home. (3) 5-1-1 rule: contractions every 5 min, lasting 1 min, for 1 hour? If yes → call OB / go in. (4) Bloody show (pink/red mucus)? Could be 24-48 hrs before active labor, but call OB to inform. (5) Water broken? Even without contractions, call OB within 1 hr — most want you in within 24 hrs. Back to you: contractions 5-1-1 for 2 hours, severe, with bloody show → this is go-time. Call OB. Partner: yes, come home. False labor: completely normal, not failure — your body is practicing."*
